Finished the killer is also romantic and I hate mgtv for their horrible subtitles but damn it I gotta give credit for their mini series lineups. I think they're recognizing its power and really manifesting it.
The killer is also romantic was a step up from queen of attack in which it had stronger directing and cinematography but, like queen of attack, it still played well with beloved tropes and delivered by having a strong cast. The actors had good visuals and chemistry which tied this whole thing together. Plus, the humor wasn't overdone and was balanced with the serious plot.
Overall, an enjoyable and cute mini series.

Because of You/ Because of Meeting You Review
Having watched this drama for almost a month, I have only been tweeting about it over at Twitter, but I read and followed up on some comments on QQ, mgtv and Weibo just to see how was the reception for this drama. Just gonna write some of my thoughts about it before the last episode tomorrow.
I absolutely do not like makjang so I did not watch Jang Bo-ri is Here. However I did skim through certain episodes of the original version to get an idea of what to expect. The Chinese remake version cut out some scenes and lines which link the story together, which I did not really like. I don’t expect a 100% ctrl c+ctrl v but some of the linking elements should still be there in my opinion. The story setting in itself is just over the top, which sadly is the essential element for Korean weekend/ daily makjang dramas so..nothing much to say except such things hardly happen in real life.
Li Yun Kai is the only important character of this drama that I like. I have to give credit to Deng Lun for his portrayal of this somewhat complicated character. He doesn’t want to fight for anything with his brother because he is genuinely kind and carefree, and that he does not want to create disharmony in the family for things he do not think is important. He hide his real self behind a shield to not hurt others, and to not get hurt - until he met Zhang Guo Guo. Considering all the makjang elements, Yun Kai did the best he could as a man, a son, a brother, a husband, and a father. His position got all complicated as more of the secrets came onto the surface, but Yun Kai did his best, and stayed loyal to his beliefs. All I see is a perfect guy caught in all the makjang mess. Deng Lun’s portrayal of Yun Kai was absolutely convincing. Coupled with his natural body language, facial expressions and strong delivery of lines, it was a joy to watch him act. I am excited to watch White Deer Plain and Ode to Joy II.
Majority of the cast had good to superb acting (especially loved Joy Pan’s portrayal of Xu Hui Jie), but there’s also bad and awkward acting that I just cringe at. The amount of hate for the character Zhang Yu Xin is definite, but I do not think that it is because of the actress. There’s the saying that if you hate a  bad character, its because the actor/ actress is so good at acting. That is so not true. The hate for the character is just because Yu Xin is plain atrocious, the things she did was enough for the audience to dislike her. Wu You’s portrayal of Zhang Yu Xin was hardly a success. Her delivery of lines was quite unnatural, her facial expressions and intonation was also awkward most of the time. Thumbs up to her courage to pick up such a character but I think she needs to brush up on quite a lot of aspects of her acting. Her acting fluctuated so much in my books and the only scene I especially liked with her in was when she threatened Hui Jie in the cafe. Other than that, it was quite a challenge to watch her act. Dai Chao was also a tad bit unnatural, but given that the main cast’s age rage was 23-25 when they filmed this drama, they still have a long road ahead of them.
Acting review aside, this was still a relatively enjoyable drama, largely because of the chemistry between Deng Lun and Sun Yi, and the Yun Kai x Guo Guo storyline. They said that because they have worked together so many times, they kind of played and filmed at the same time, adding lines that were not in the script when they acted as well. I can somehow guess which lines are added by Deng Lun because Yun Kai as a character is quite fun to “play” with. I think this contributed to the success of the Yun Kai x Guo Guo couple. That’s about all.
And that I’m definitely gonna miss Yun Kai badly.

Moonlight IS the dancing-singing song!
Teams are trying to decide how to separate folks for the stages.
E.SO to the other team: We don't have anyone who can dance but we have someone good looking. He is really good looking.
Proceeds to hold Jeff's face

E.SO and Danko not wanting to abandon Jeff despite the other teams trying their hardest to recruit them. And Jeff didn't talk or give his input during this entire debacle either bc he knew how talented and popular they were 😭
Tumblr media
E.SO in his interview: it's not possible [to separate from Jeff]. If Danko and I left for another team, then Jeff would be alone. Then how would he proceed from there? We didn't know either. So Danko and I were worried. We couldn't abandon him. I pulled Danko to the side and said, "no this won't do. Can we not choose and just be the three of us with Jeff [...]
I'm so glad they're taking care of him 🥺

Danko realized Jeff slept " very seriously" with his arms crossed the first night because he didn't know he had to cover the cameras with a towel so he slept super tense 😭
And so E.SO and the rest of his teammates were like "we need to protect him"
我放心了 🥲
